This article explains a few things about Personal Assistant, and if you’re interested, then this is worth reading, because you can never tell what you don’t know.

A lot of people employ a personal assistant. But what does a personal assistant really do? What is his or her job description?

The personal assistant is called by many names. They can also be referred to as executive secretary or executive assistant. He or she works closely with the manager then coordinates with the various departments.

But most of the time, this person deals with administrative and secretarial tasks like answer the phone, enter, welcome the visitors, make appointments, deal with deliveries and faxes, make schedules, take dictation and minutes, produce presentations, do background research, organize meetings, liaise both internally and externally, arrange travel accommodations, organize paperwork and make decisions in the absence of others.

In order to be an effective personal assistant, you should be able to know the company and the business inside and out. This will allow you to get in touch with the right people when you are instructed to. Given that you handle matters that are important to the company, you should be trustworthy and exercise confidentiality and discretion at all times.

The personal assistant may sometimes be instructed to do other duties. This may involve handling accounts and budgets, carrying out a specific project and take some of the manager?s load which means being given the opportunity to be involved in the decision making process. Some companies do that while others don?t and just stick to the basics as mentioned.

Is everything making sense so far? If not, I’m sure that with just a little more reading, all the facts will fall into place.

Celebrities, professional assistants and politicians are just some of the few examples of people who need a personal assistant. Small businesses also do and the average salary of a personal assistant these days is $37,000.

If you think about it, there is no specific educational degree that lands you the job of a personal assistant. It just happens which is why a company who feels the need for one will probably hire someone internally before posting a job posting.

In order for the two to work together, both the manager and the personal assistant should have good rapport otherwise nothing gets done.

Should you consider being a personal assistant, keep in mind there are some drawbacks. For one, you will have to work 40 to 80 hours or more especially when your boss has a late night meeting or tells you to accompany him or her to a business out of town. You may be on call 24/7 so you may have to rush from one place to another even late at night or the in early hours of the morning.

But there are benefits for being a personal assistant. You get to meet other celebrities and high level executives that could lead to better job opportunities. You get to attend business dinners or even parties. Those who travel get to work and go on vacation at the same time which often includes free travel and an expense account.

Working any job even that of a personal assistant has its ups and downs. Those who can take it will be able to stay in this position for a very long time while others who have tried but could not stomach it will look for a better job role. For you to succeed here, you have to be trust worthy, hard working, can work under pressure and have a strong work ethic.

Do you ever feel like you know just enough about Personal Assistant to be dangerous? Let’s see if we can fill in some of the gaps with the latest info from Personal Assistant experts.

Before, a personal assistant or “Girl Friday”/”Man Friday” is only common to the people in the business world especially to business people who have high positions in a certain company. For instance, a personal assistant is hired by a prominent businessman or businesswoman to assist him or her in everything that he or she needs to do.

These things not only refer to those that are covered in the workplace such scheduling for meetings, accepting or declining phone calls, mail matters such as daily monitoring of mails?either snail mails, emails, or other correspondence, documentation reviews, research works, booking and reservations for meetings locally and internationally and so much more.

But now, the term “personal assistant” is not only applicable to the people in the business or corporate world but in other fields such as in healthcare, communications, and the like. Surveys show that more and more personal assistants are being hired to assist older people or people that have certain medical conditions and restrictions. These personal assistants are also being called “personal aide” because they specifically assist in maintaining stable medical condition.

In the field of communications, personal assistants also take the job of the secretary for doing exactly the latter’s job. In this field, personal assistants are more popularly called “PA,” its abbreviation. Since they are in a more complicated industry, they have more responsibilities, duties, and tasks.

Today, the responsibilities of a personal assistant doe not only involve work in the office setting job but also include some menial tasks asked by their employers. These tasks even include ordering and delivering food, laundromat services, dealing with stylists and photographers for photo shoot and other matters that their bosses can no longer take care of.

If you base what you do on inaccurate information, you might be unpleasantly surprised by the consequences. Make sure you get the whole Personal Assistant story from informed sources.

And since the responsibilities are heavier, more and more qualifications are being required for the applicants for this position. They must be able to represent their employer in more important roles such as meetings, company and business negotiations, briefing of people who will face the boss and the like.

Why is there a need to hire a personal assistant?

Hiring a personal assistant is common to people who have high profiles in the society such as politicians, celebrities, entertainment moguls, professional athletes, and business executives. This is because these people have a handful to do and needs a helping hand in all the things that they need to do. They also need personal assistants so they can accomplish more things in a shortest possible time. Since “time is gold’ for these people, they would rather pay someone to do menial jobs instead of them doing those things on their own.

They also need personal assistants so they can concentrate more on the bigger things that they need to do instead of worrying over simple things that can be done by other people with their specific instructions.

But now, with the times changing, even people who don?t belong to the sector of high profile individuals need personal assistants to make their life easier. In fact, over the years, personal assistance for the middle class has an increasing demand because more and more families need it. Personal assistants in middle class families usually serve as nannies who take care of the children or the family’s personal secretary who takes care of all the documentation needed for the internal affairs.

When you’re learning about something new, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the sheer amount of relevant information available. This informative article should help you focus on the central points.

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, about 15 to 20% of American students have dyslexia. It would take a while before parents would acknowledge that their children are actually suffering from serious problems, thus denying them of proper treatment. The good news is, parents can consider brain training to help children cope with these problems.

Contrary to what most people believe, people with dyslexia do not necessarily have low intellect. There are some dyslexics that became successful in their chosen fields, like Albert Einstein, Thomas Edison, Alexander Bell and even journalist Anderson Cooper.

There is no standard treatment for dyslexia, it is based on the person?s need and condition. Once a child is diagnosed with dyslexia, the school where it is enrolled is required to create an Individualized Education Program (IEP) that would suit the child?s needs. The IEP will provide you with a clear understanding of the disabilities, methods on dealing with it and of course, the objectives of the program.

In a case study performed by the Edmond J. Safra Brain Research Center for the Study of Learning Disabilities in the University of Haifa in Israel, dyslexic college students showed improvements in their memory and reading performance after undergoing brain training. The creators of the training believed that through improving the memory capacity, more information could be retained, detected and used by the mind.

Meanwhile, a research led by Psychology professor John Gabrieli from the Stanford University, discovered that dyslexia could actually be connected with a defect on a neuron function. Those who have difficulty in reading would often have an abnormal function of the neuron?s myelin.

If your Brain Training facts are out-of-date, how will that affect your actions and decisions? Make certain you don’t let important Brain Training information slip by you.

By understanding this neurobiological aspect of dyslexia, the researchers were able to design a kind of training which helped dyslexics become better readers after eight weeks of the training. In the training, the dyslexics were subjected into understanding the basic sounds of language rapidly.

While training with sounds, a brain imaging was performed. The areas which do not function properly, becomes activated and showed normal performance for the first time. Aside from the problem areas of the brain, other regions were also maximized during the training.

This training is important to help them distinguish the difference between the letters. One of the biggest problems of dyslexics is how they distinguish letters with almost similar sounds. The words are broken into sounds and they are exaggerated or slowed down to put emphasis n the sounds.

After the training, the students participating experienced an increase in their language and reading exams. And since the children were able to improve on their reading skills, they also became more confident.

The best option would be to get a cognitive trainer or get into a learning center that has the ability to handle dyslexics. Tutoring would allow them to use different exercises based on their needs. These centers would also have knowledge of different dyslexia tools, which are of course, in the form of brain exercises and games. Brain training would also help in identifying weak points and how they could be improved.

Number of people who are suffering from latex allergy is increasing ever day. It is question how healthcare worker or consumers could to avoid usage of latex or better said: how you can control latex allergy.

At beginning, it is necessary to know that there are two sources of latex allergy, which produces two various allergic reactions. One type of latex allergy reaction is showed by minor skin rash and it affects on immune system. Usually, this types comes with usage of the chemical additives for making rubber gloves.

Other type of latex reaction is followed with different symptoms and body reaction, such as: red hives, causing, itching of eyes and nose, runny nose, rhinitis or also known as hay fever and at last asthma. In very rear situation, latex allergy may cause anaphylaxis, which cause less airflow and swelling and which may in the worst situation if it is not treated properly, caused and suddenly death.

Usage of latex is in developing, same as prevalence of latex allergy. Doctors who are using latex to protect themselves from infections or infectious diseases with touching patient’s urine, face, blood or other organism that may pass through the body organism and infect doctors. Actually, more and more medical staff are using latex gloves for protecting them selves, even in the most common checking of the health of patients such as checking pus or other.

Now that we’ve covered those aspects of Allergies, let’s turn to some of the other factors that need to be considered.

The result of too much usage of latex is increasing of the latex allergy. Also, it should to mention that increasing of the latex allergy also comes because of too much usage by people who have predisposition for latex allergy. There is a study that shows that cornstarch which is used for easier using of latex, especially in putting gloves on and off absorbs and shed proteins into the air. This also influence on spreading latex allergy through the air.

There is also option which you may use for protecting yourself from potential latex allergy reaction. Actually, you may to do blood testing for determining are you positive on latex or not. Knowledge that you are allergic on the latex may save you from unwanted situation that latex allergy may produce.

Skin test is procedure where small amount of the latex components are injecting into your skin. So, if your skin show some symptoms of the latex allergy, such as swelling in the area where you have injected latex components, you will know that you are allergic on latex. Another method is blood testing.

There are various symptoms that may cause latex, but some of the most usual symptoms are: runny nose, difficult breathing, especially shortness breath, wheezing, skin rashes, itchy skin, asthma and other.

The number of the people who had a reaction to gluten, and subsequently completely removed gluten from their diet. But, in some instances unnecessary to stop eating gluten, since a lot of aspects of gluten allergy and intolerance is misunderstood. It is because majority people misunderstand what gluten is. So, here are an explanation what gluten is, types of it and how it occurs.

Gluten, What Is It?

Gluten is rubbery and elastic protein, usually found in wheat products or in wheat. But, also and other products also contain gluten. So, it could be found in barley, rye, to lesser degree of oats. The products with can never contain gluten are maize and rice.

Still, gluten is not the only proteins contained into the rye, wheat and barley. So, as well as gluten may cause allergic reaction and other substances contained in these food may also be causes of allergy. This process is also known as sensitization. When you next time enter gluten in your body, your body will react and produce massive IgE.

As in the most cases of food allergy, and when you enter gluten it needs few minutes to few hours for reacting of your body.

College is one of those stages wherein a person needs organization tips more than ever. This is because it is in this stage where a person’s skills and attitude is develop and may determine his or her future.

To those who are off to college soon, here the aspect that they need organization the most is the financial aspect. Since they would be away from their parents and would be forced to take care of their lives and their own resources, it is a must that they learn how to be organized as early as possible.

Organizing Your Money

Since the world is undergoing an economic crisis, organization tips are very important to keep one going. This is quite applicable for people who are not yet earning full time like the college students. More than ever, these young people should realize that the times that everybody has now are tough and they, themselves can do something to survive.

Imagine this, everything cost more than what it used to be. From gas, food and even school supplies, everything is going up and the only thing going down is the world’s economy. Given these conditions, it’s really hard to save up for college and work through it. Some people are even tempted by those lucrative credit card loans or student loans that have really low interest rates but have hidden charges that catch people off guard.

I trust that what you’ve read so far has been informative. The following section should go a long way toward clearing up any uncertainty that may remain.

But, before you start whining about hard it is to finish college and how only people with money can afford to have an education, here are some organization tips that can help you save some of your resources while you are in college:

- make use of old books that your siblings and friends have used. There is absolutely nothing wrong about used textbooks and reference books. It’s a good way of saving up money for better use. What’s the difference anyway? New books are just books too, besides you’ll never know what kind of notes you’ll find inside.

- purchase the things you need in bulk. For students who are living or renting on their own, it’s cheaper to buy things in bulk or by the dozen. In fact, there are a lot of wholesale stores where you can get significant savings. You can buy your snacks, toilet paper and detergent here and you can divvy the cost among your roomies, and I’m sure they won’t mind.

- avoid paying extra for the transportation or for the gas. Walking more will definitely help you save some money since you won’t have to pay for transportation Aside from helping you save some money; it’s also a good form of exercise while helping the environment by lessening carbon emissions.

- learn how to cook your own food. When you are able to do this, you can dine inside your pad more often and can help you cut down on expenses when you eat in various restaurants. Experts say that this is one of the best organization tips that college students could learn. If they prepare their own food, they won’t have to pay for extra charges.

Now might be a good time to write down the main points covered above. The act of putting it down on paper will help you remember what’s important about Organization Tips.

She or he also takes charge of menial jobs such as monitoring computer and office supplies, and writing personal invitations, greeting cards and even thank-you notes.

For a personal assistant to become effective, he or she must have at least two to three years of experience as a personal PA either in a home or office set up. The PA must also have at least a Bachelor’s Degree, knowledge in computers especially in running basic programs in the computer such as Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and others, and should possess a strong communication skills, have keen organization skills and displays people skills.

Allergy is described as an exaggerated reaction of the immune system to foreign bodies and substances that are not harmful to normal non-allergic individuals. The response by the immune system is exaggerated since it treats these foreign bodies as threats to the health of the body, instead of discarding and eliminating them like it normally would. This reaction is possible if a certain response of the immune system is activated.

The mechanism of allergies begins with the so-called exaggerated reaction of the immune system to antigens. Antigens are special substances that trigger the immune system to release its antibodies. Once an antigen invades the body, the immune system will try to work out the nature of antigen by identifying whether it is dangerous or not. In people who have not developed allergies, all antigens are not harmful.

However, for people who had antigens which underwent previous sensitization, selected antigens are treated by the body as threats. Among allergic people, the invasion of an antigen will trigger a series of immune response known as allergic cascade. The result of which are allergic reactions and symptoms characterizing the specific allergy or the specific body part affected by the antigen.

The antigen to which a person is allergic to is called allergen which comes in forms of animal dander, foods, drugs, chemicals, pollens, dust mites and others.

Allergens can penetrate the body through various entry points. These entry points are basically distinguished by the nature of the allergen. For example, nasal passages are the passageways for pollens, dust mites, dust, molds and other minute objects.

Knowledge can give you a real advantage. To make sure you’re fully informed about Allergies, keep reading.

Allergens can also affect the body, but do not necessarily have to enter the inner body, through the contact with the skin or mucous membranes. Topical chemicals and substances are often the culprits of allergic responses on the skin. This allergic reaction differs with other allergic responses since it only triggers cells of inflammation which are located on the superficial layers of the skin and not the specific antibody that reacts to allergens- the IgE.

However, for some substances, contact does not end with the skin, they sometimes seep through the underlying structures to cause more severe allergic responses. There are also allergens that are injected to the body. These typically consist of materials that are injected mechanically or chemicals that insects carry. Lastly are the allergens that are ingested which compose of a variety of food that typically trigger allergic responses among humans, medications and drugs. In over sensitive individuals, even water components may pose as allergens.

The allergic cascade happens in three phases. It begins with the invasion of a common substance of the body’s system. If the immune system detects it as harmless, it will not respond aggressively, leading to the antigen’s elimination. However, if the immune system detects it as a threat, it will produce IgE or immunoglobulin E, an antibody that reacts to allergens, in massive quantities. IgE will then plot the allergen as harmful and will develop immune responses to it in succeeding encounters.

After sensitization comes another encounter with the antigen. By this time, the body has already developed exaggerated responses. Due to the release of some chemicals into the blood stream as it tries to eliminate the antigen, the body will experience the symptoms of the allergy.

These symptoms are the natural consequences of the immune response.

Those who only know one or two facts about Allergies can be confused by misleading information. The best way to help those who are misled is to gently correct them with the truths you’re learning here.

In today’s world, it seems that almost any topic is open for debate. While I was gathering facts for this article, I was quite surprised to find some of the issues I thought were settled are actually still being openly discussed.

In many cases, a personal assistant becomes every boss’s eyes, ears, and mouth. Aside from being the boss’ “go to” individual, the personal assistant also plays a variety of roles to be able to cover all the needs of the employer.

Often times, aside from being a personal secretary, a receptionist, an office or administrative assistant, a personal runner, and so much more, the personal assistant also becomes the “absorber” of the employer when tasks are not properly done or if the things are not organized in a way that the employer wants them to be.

Before, personal assistants are only known to work for people with high ranks and positions in the society. These people are usually those that hold high positions in the government such as politicians, celebrities or other public figures that have big influence to people, chief executive officers of various business firms, and the like.

But now, for as long as a person holds a business that operates on a daily basis, hectic schedule due to running a personal business or even those who have health conditions but still need to work, they can hire their very own personal assistants.

But, among those types of employers, being a personal assistant for a celebrity could be considered as one of the most tempting. Why? because aside from working closely with a celebrity, you also get the chance to have a peek what it’s like to be in the colorful and exciting world of show business.

The qualities needed for the position

Today, the income of celebrity personal assistants ranges from $80,000 to $100,000 annually. That’s not all, aside from enjoying a handsome amount of money, celebrity personal assistants also get the chance to live like a star because they will become closely involved with the lifestyle of their employers.

Think about what you’ve read so far. Does it reinforce what you already know about Personal Assistant? Or was there something completely new? What about the remaining paragraphs?

By being a celebrity assistant, they can also enjoy perks such as free travel when their bosses need to go out of town or out of the country, lots of free stuff, and backstage pass or tickets for concerts and premier nights. But, the biggest perk of them all is that being a celebrity personal assistant can gives you the opportunity of entering the exclusive world of the stars and even make you friends with some celebrities.

But, just like any other job, this one is not easy. As a celebrity personal assistant, you have to be there 24/7 to take care of almost everything. Starting from managing the star’s household, answering, returning and making calls, managing mail matters especially coming from fans, organize and plan events such as parties, and some other menial jobs to provide the needs of the celebrity.

To be able to become a good celebrity personal assistant, one must make sure that everything that needs and gets to be done to ensure that simple things won’t bother the celebrity. If a celebrity personal assistant can functions well, he or she helps the celebrity a lot in concentrating on his or her field.

If you are planning to become a celebrity assistant, you must know how to:

- choose a type of celebrity to work for such as actors, musicians, professional athletes, movie directors, top-selling authors, models, and the like.

- develop and enhance your own skills by being updated to social etiquette, technological advancements and current events.

- prepare yourself by undergoing a training to improve the qualities needed for the position.

- earn some experience by trying to work as a personal assistant to other people before getting involved with the show business industry.

In the landmark publication of a study in the August 4, 2009 issue of Neurology, it was reported that people engaged in brain exercises (brain training) such as reading, writing and playing card games may delay the onset of rapid memory decline that occurs if they later develop dementia.

There was a cautionary adjunct to that happy news. It declared that while ?there is evidence that brain exercises do work to slow down cognitive decline?, there was also evidence that the really elderly will not benefit from it.

To be effective, the study said, these brain training needs to be started while people are still in the 60s or 70s. These people need ?early life education and participation in cognitively stimulating leisure activities later in life. These are the two factors?which may have delayed the onset of memory decline in the preclinical stages of dementia.?

Brain training facts

Nevertheless, the study results point to the old phrase (directed at first to the benefits of physical exercise) ?use it or lose it? as equally valid for mental fitness, too. Previous studies had also shown that regular brain training sessions can help ward off dementia and symptoms of Alzheimer?s disease.

The following list gives out reasons why the right kind of mental exercises can fortify your brain. It also reiterates what research says about using brain calisthenics to defend yourself against memory loss.

(1) Mental decline is not inevitable. Adults can actually grow new brain cells. This reverses the long-held belief that lost brainpower caused by aging cannot be recovered anymore.

(2) You can build a set of extra neurons (cognitive reserve) in your brain to help offset those you had gradually lost as you aged. A data analysis published in a journal says that a mere 5% increase in the cognitive reserve can prevent one-third of Alzheimer?s cases.

Hopefully the information presented so far has been applicable. You might also want to consider the following:

(3) Frequent cognitive activities can reduce dementia risk by up to 63%.

(4) Brain training may slow the effects of Alzheimer?s disease. Upon the death of a patient (not from Alzheimer?s), his autopsy revealed advanced Alzheimer?s. doctors concluded his chess-playing may have helped kept the disease in check.

He had also kept his condition in check by bolstering his brains with chess and other intellectual ?push-ups.?

(5) Cross-training counts. Focusing only on a single mental activity will not exercise all the cognitive domains needed to keep the brains agile. Furthermore, consistent and long-term mental stimulation appears to be the key to reducing risk of memory loss and dementia.

If you can, also include activities that address areas for short-term and long-term memories, critical thinking, visual and spatial orientation, calculation and language.

(6) Teaching the brain new tricks can also help. Learning a new language, music lessons, or teaching yourself how to use the iPod can contribute to building new brain circuits.

(7) Never neglect your physical exercises, too. Cardiovascular and strength training boost brainpower by generating more blood flow to the brain which supplies oxygen and nutrients promoting the growth of new brain cells.

All in all, keep yourself well-informed on how to give your brains a good workout and what kind of physical exercise are the best for you. More good news on brain training had been turning up everywhere (TV, print, internet) lately. Stay tuned.
